Fellowship information
Arcadia Fellowships provide an opportunity for librarians and members of related professions to come to Cambridge to work on short-term projects which explore the role of academic libraries in a networked world. The duration of each Fellowship will depend on the nature of the project being undertaken and the occupational situation of the Fellow, but we envisage an average duration of ten weeks, i.e. an academic term. The current phase of the Project runs from July 2008 to June 2011. Arcadia Fellows will have membership of Wolfson College during their tenure and will be given accommodation in the college if they require it.
Arcadia Fellowships will be awarded on the basis of (i) the personal qualities and professional experience of candidates and (ii) their proposed projects. Except in exceptional circumstances, projects proposals should be capable of being mapped onto this diagram.
Each Fellowship will have one or more agreed 'deliverables' associated with it. We envisage a wide range of deliverables - ranging from conventional publications, to workshops, presentations and prototype services. Fellows will also be expected to participate in a lively seminar programme which will run through the academic year.
Applications are welcome at any time. If you are thinking of applying, please first write or email the Programme Administrator at the address shown on the Contact details page stating your interest and giving brief details (no more than a single A4 page please) of your qualifications and experience and the project you would like to undertake.
If the Selection Committee wish to explore your candidature further, we will (i) ask you to submit a detailed CV, names of referees and a more detailed outline of your project ideas and (ii) require a letter in support of your application from the Director of your library or relevant institution.
